The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond (JCFR) has been building, sustaining, and connecting Jewish Communities in Richmond, Israel and worldwide for 89 years. Federation protects and enhances the well-being of the Jewish and general community through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedakah (charity and social justice) and Torah (learning).


The Jewish Community Federation of Richmond (JCFR) is seeking a Director, Women’s Philanthropy.

The Director, Women’s Philanthropy will work with lay leadership to identify, engage, and solicit women to expand and grow the overall human and financial resource development for the Federation. The Director, Women’s Philanthropy will be a visionary, collaborative and innovative leader with a deep understanding of and commitment to the mission, values, and goals of the Jewish Community Federation. They will be passionate about philanthropy and crafting innovative and effective fundraising, relationship management and community engagement strategies that raise up both people and resources.
 

The Director, Women’s Philanthropy is a key member of the Development and Engagement team, working closely with a volunteer board including the Women’s Philanthropy Chair, Women’s Philanthropy Campaign Chair, Education Chair, Lion of Judah Endowment, Lion of Judah Chair, and Outreach Chair alongside a Women’s Philanthropy Board. They are responsible for creating the vision and strategy, and ultimately implementing, a comprehensive fundraising and engagement program and recruiting and developing talented team members seeking to increase involvement and fundraising outcomes significantly.


The Director, Women’s Philanthropy will have the following key responsibilities:

  1. Support the Women’s Philanthropy Board and subcommittees, focusing on Campaign and Legacy achievement, engagement, and education to ensure Women philanthropists are solicited, stewarded, recognized and engaged.
  2. Personally manage a portfolio of 75 donors to drive growth in overall philanthropy and revenue, including Annual giving, endowment and legacy giving and supplemental and capital gifts.
  3. Work collaboratively with lay and professional teams to steward annual donors towards multi-year, major and planned gifts.
  4. Oversees subcommittees, focusing on Financial Resource Development and Legacy groups to ensure WP recognition opportunities are used in the community and to highlight the Lion of Judah, Lion of Judah endowment programs.
  5. Plan and mange programs and events for Women’s Philanthropy including annual events including L’dor V’dor, Pear Society, Dignity Grows and Lion of Judah programming,
  6. Lead local and international missions to educate, inspire and connect Women throughout our community with Global Jewry.
  7. Lead an engagement philosophy which helps individuals and families connect to Jewish life in Richmond and globally, eventually leading them to increased giving, involvement, and leadership.
  8. Supervise Dignity Grows program, including an associate, to support current partners, engage volunteers and sustain funding and impact.


The ideal candidate will bring visionary fundraising and leadership, marked by a solid track record of increasing philanthropic support. They will be an outgoing, dynamic presence with strong relationship building and communication skills.


Desired Qualifications & Experience

  • Immersive understanding of the non-profit sector, the Jewish community, the Jewish Federation of North America, and the social impact of fundraising on Jewish organizations.
  • Experience with “Moves Management,” increasing year-to-year giving and securing large gifts.
  • 3+ Years of Fundraising and/or engagement experience.
  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, bringing an innovative approach to business planning.
  • Effective and persuasive communication skills, including an ability to prepare and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Maturity, sound judgment and high ethical standards.
  • Analytical, yet creative; humble and empathetic.
