The Director of Community Planning is a key member of the Community Planning and Allocations (CP&A) team. This individual will be the lead professional in exploring, designing and evaluating the many different dimensions of Jewish education and engagement. In this role, the Director will convene and partner with agencies of The Associated and with other community organizations on issues relating to Jewish learning and experiences including Jewish camping, Hillel’s, Jewish preschools, Jewish environmental education and day school education. She/he will assist with planning to meet social and human service needs in our community including services to people with disabilities and older adults, as well as mental health, addictions and poverty issues. This role involves collaboration with lay leadership on key CP&A committees focusing on trends, innovations and initiatives for dynamic and effective Jewish education and engagement. She/he will also assist in developing best in class strategies for human service planning, with the goal of ensuring a vibrant Jewish community for present and future generations of the Baltimore Jewish community.

What You Will Do:

  • Serve as the primary professional for the Jewish Future Commission and the Day School Commission
  • Supervise the Center for Jewish Camping
  • Support the Caring Commission
  • Develop and manage strong relationships with leadership, volunteers, donors, professionals, community stakeholders and national partners
  • Research and understand best practices in Jewish education and engagement
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the scope of Jewish education and engagement work within the Associated network as well as nationally
  • Develop strong Federation/Agency relationships and relationships within the Associated system
  • Convene relevant communities of practice
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Master’s degree required
  • 5-8 years of related work experience
  • Demonstrated track record of managing complex relationships
  • Excellent responsiveness and follow-through
  • Superior written and oral communication
  • Ability to successfully work collaboratively
  • Strong knowledge of the Baltimore Jewish community
  • Positive attitude
