NowGen Director - Phoenix

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
The NowGen Director will serve an essential role for the Jewish Federation of Greater Phoenix and the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Phoenix as they come together to form a new, integrated organization. The NowGen Director is responsible for the development and engagement of the young adult Jewish community, between the ages of 21 and 45. The NowGen Director will have additional responsibilities within the scope of the development team related to engaging the Jewish community and fundraising initiatives.

 
Key Areas of Responsibility: 
NowGen (adults ages 21-45)
 
  • Direct the NowGen operational and strategic plan (including outreach, engagement, and leadership development) with the goal of connecting NowGen participants to the Jewish community and one another.
  • Identify, cultivate, recruit, and motivate participants for NowGen program and encourage advancement into leadership roles.
  • Prepare and manage NowGen program budget.
  • Provide staff support for NowGen Board, including logistics, board development, and programming.
  • Plan, manage, and staff events in partnership with lay leaders, to ensure strong planning, visible branding and successful event execution.
  • Ensure effective execution of NowGen giving circle programming.
  • Manage Leadership & Advancement Series mentorship program.
  • In collaboration for Marketing Director, support and oversee paid and earned media outreach for NowGen, including social media, digital marketing, collateral print materials, press releases, etc.
  • Provide staff support for local participants in JFNA Young Leadership Cabinet, the Jewish Federations of North America’s leadership training program for the most promising volunteers between age 30 and 40, and for the Ben-Gurion Society, a national donor recognition society for donors age 25 to 45 who contribute $1,000+ annually.
  • Represent NowGen in the community and at national events, in-person and virtual. 
  • Conduct outreach and offer community (and one-on-one) presentations to generate interest in NowGen, develop key communal relationships, and make the case for change as well as additional funding.
  • Support existing programs and create new programs and services to address and respond to the needs of the young adult Jewish community.
  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with new and existing NowGen funders as well as other fundraising initiatives of the overall organization.
  • In collaboration with other departments, develop and support relationships with existing and potential volunteers and donors to the overall organization.
  • Coordinate and strengthen relationships with NowGen professionals in other communities and nationally.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit donors within the NowGen cohort as needed.
  • Provide support for the overall organization’s fundraising activities and programming as needed.
 
Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities/Characteristics:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree a plus.
  • At least 3 years of progressive leadership experience in Jewish communal organizations (or equivalent experience in a different sector) preferred.
  • Prior experience working with young adult population a plus.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and professional relationships skills.
  • Strong organization and management skills, and including the ability to multitask, prioritize multiple assignments, and execute work in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to create strategies to identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects, channeling donor engagement into charitable impact.
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and various social media platforms required. Proficiency with Blackbaud CRM systems a plus.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. 
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external departments, vendors, and consultants.
