DEPARTMENT: Financial Resource Development
REPORTS TO: Associate Vice President, National Women’s Philanthropy, and Associate Vice President, Major Gifts
BACKGROUND:
The Jewish Federations of North America (“JFNA”) represents 146 Jewish Federations and over 300 Network communities, which raise and distribute more than $3 billion annually for social welfare, social services, and educational needs. The Federation movement, collectively among the top 10 charities on the continent, protects and enhances the well-being of Jews worldwide through the values of tikkun olam (repairing the world), tzedakah (charity and social justice) and Torah (Jewish learning).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide full administrative services as it relates to Major Gifts and National Women’s Philanthropy
- Maintain departmental files
- Update NWP and related websites, interoffice site and FedWeb back-up
- Handle mail merges, labels, name tags, the creation of spreadsheets, formatting of letters/documents to various letterhead styles
- Prepare and update membership directories and other printed materials for all affinity groups that fall under the responsibility of this department
- Schedule and coordinate meetings and conference calls
- Respond to phone inquiries
- Prepare materials needed for events including the collection of sensitive information from donors
- Coordinate 5 or more newsletters a year
- Collect and send out good and welfare
- Handle check requests, reimbursements and expenses for the department
- Manage and update mailing lists/databases
- Provide quality customer service to the federations, and others with whom we work and/or provide services to
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent administrative, organizational and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills
- Excellent computer skills, including database creation and utilization
- Expertise in Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint
- Familiarity with the Jewish communal field a plus
- Flexibility and detail-oriented; creative, innovative and a self-starter
- A team player
- Ability to think on your feet and to multi-task
- Comfort in a fast-paced work environment
